"My husband, Jim, had a stroke over seven years ago, which resulted in pretty severe aphasia and apraxia for him.  He participated in speech therapy sessions but reached a point after about a year when he felt the time and money spent wasn’t worth the effort anymore.  He adjusted well to his limitations, but communication has been our biggest challenge over these seven years—needless to say, we have had lots of frustrating moments!

Brooke offered to work with us in learning some methods to help us communicate better.  She was like a breath of fresh air to us with her creativity, depth of knowledge, use of the latest techniques and resources, adaptability in scheduling, and commitment to working with us. And she helped restore belief in Jim that he still had the capacity to improve his ability to communicate.  The sessions were hard work, but Brooke always used a variety of methods that made our time with her enjoyable and full of hope.

The best thing I can say about her is that she really cared about Jim and went way above and beyond to serve his needs.  We’ve worked with probably 10 speech therapists over the years, some excellent, some not so great--and Brooke, hands down, rates number one on our list!"
